Getting Twisted Insane (article by Jhantu Randall)

Read More by Jhantu Randall Back in February I had bought tickets to a show being headlined by San Diego native, Twisted Insane. I’ve always been a fan of double time rhymers, choppers, and any quick cadence in-between. Being a listener of groups like Do or Die or artists like Twista, I was always impressed by the speed in which they flowed. From there I was drawn to Tech N9ne which I bring up for a couple of reasons, first off being given the opportunity to get in to cover that show by Lezerrick Holiday of 03 Ent. lead to the platforms I now have. In addition to that, it was through Tech N9ne’s song “World Wide Choppers” that I was first introduced to the sound of Twisted Insane, and with 03 Entertainment and Yahhh Music, started by Tazz Jones and Fasa Labree promoting and performing, this article feels as if something has come full circle. Returning to Frankie’s Sport’s bar in Olympia, I was actually excited to return to the place that kicked off my New Year. Walking in, the show wa...

Tech N9ne Takes Tacoma (by Jhantu Randall)

In the past you've seen articles on Gerald “Realife” Beamon, Lazerrick Holiday and George Cain, well tonight it all comes together as 03 Entertainment brought Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko to Tacoma for the first time with the Independent Grind Tour 2018! They’ve all had a heavy presence on social media promoting this show for the last couple months and finally after all the hard work, its officially showtime. With halloween just around the corner, fall is playing its song and on October 19th, Tech N9ne and Strange Music gave a voice to that song as they preached their sermons at the Temple theater in Tacoma. With the show slated to start at 7, I pulled up to the theater off of 4th and St Helens Ave to a large crowd of Strange fans, Juggalo’s, and other groups that Tech’s music unites together. Talking to local group, the Lab Rats, we discussed the energy we expected the show to bring as we all shared our stories on how Tech’s music has made an impact on our own lives. It may sound co...

On A Mission: An Interview w/ Quest Michaels (by Jhantu Randall)

When it comes to any story in entertainment, the one that always stands out is the one told about the underdog. The story about the person that works hard, produces content consistently, studies the craft and still, for some reason or another, stays relatively under the radar. While many may see this as a disadvantage in a sea of talented spitters and artists, some would say to be underrated is the most dangerous because you have the opportunity to remain inconspicuous. I first saw Quest Michaels take the stage a few months back at an open mic I was performing in at Lady Luck’s in Parkland. I saw him kind of stay hidden in the shadows, watching intently as the other artists graced the stage and spit their piece. Not knowing what to expect, I watched as Quest grabbed the mic and made his way under the spotlight which was surrounded by a dim ambience which played well in the hands of a few acts. With an upbeat, almost reggae rhythm, Quest spit his life in bar after bar which he switched...
