"It Ain’t Fair" is inspired by a friend of Markers and is a story of resilience and resolve that says adversity doesn't need to define us. Marker went through college with him without knowing the friend's entire experience, which made it easy for Marker to come to his own conclusion about his friend's actions. When his friend eventually told him, the Seattle musician was inspired to share his friend's story. Marker says it was a big reminder and revelation that someone’s story is more than meets the eye.

NWMS chats with Legends of Rock chorus director Paul Caldwell

Prince From Minneapolis exhibit curator chats with NWMS

by Andrew Hamlin The “Prince From Minneapolis,” exhibit, running now at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop) at Seattle Center, details the diminutive, mercurial, outspoken, yet often elusive superstar and fashion icon through the lenses of four photographers who worked up close with him: Allen Beaulieu, Nancy Bundt, Terry Gydesen, and Robert Whitman. The exhibit began at the University of Minnesota’s Weisman Art Museum (WAM). The original curator, WAM Senior Curator Diane Mullin, was kind enough to take a few questions. Read Full Interview

Concert Review: James Bay charms Paramount crowd

by Sophia Barkalakis The much anticipated live show of singer-songwriter James Bay was finally upon dedicated fans filling up the Paramount Theater. Bay's date back in October was postponed and fans were excited for his return and a chance to hear music from his second studio album, Electric Light, live. This was his last show of the tour which made it feel very intimate and special as he expressed his gratitude to his audience.

Concert Review: Maggie Rogers shines at Showbox SoDo (NorthWest Music Scene)

Her show at the Showbox SoDo sold out fast and she's already returning this fall to play much larger WaMu. Impressed yet? Her Seattle performance came right in the middle of her Coachella appearances already receiving much praise from last weekend. Concert Review: K.Flay delivers intense set at Columbia City Theater (NorthWest Music Scene)

The talented musician is known for her energy filled live performances and she holds a top spot on our list. The event sold out quickly as one would imagine and fans were ready to devour the set.
