EVENT: 10/14/18 Art & Architecture Tour of Union Station


Sunday, October 14, 10:30am - 12:30pmMeet at Union Station Information Kiosk, inside Alameda Street entrance

Led by Metro Art Docents, the free tours cover Union Station art, architecture and spaces not generally open to the public, including the Historic Ticketing Hall. Additionally, the tour explores artworks located in the Gold Line portal and inside the Metro Gateway Headquarters Building. Reservations are not required.

Metro Art Moves tours highlight Metro’s diverse collection of artworks, heighten the passenger experience in fun and engaging ways to boost public perceptions about transit, promote rider etiquette and offer opportunities for discovery. Tours are free. More information: metro.net/art.

EVENT: 9/30/18 Metro Art at Celebrate LA! with LA Phil and CicLAvia


The LA Phil is kicking off its 100th season by partnering with CicLAvia to bring an art-filled 8-mile street party connecting Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl and we're joining them! Keep an eye out for our Metro Art docents at stations: Hollywood/Vine, Wilshire/Normandie and Westlake/MacArthur Park, where they' will provide in-depth information about the artworks at each station.

Wilshire/Normandie Station: Platform level
Westlake/McArthur Park Station: Concourse level
Docents will be wearing orange Metro vests.

EVENT: 10/13/18 Far Out: Movement through Form and Color

Featuring special guest artists Hadley Holliday, Nikko Mueller and Eamon Ore-Giron.


Join us for a guided artist-led tour of our brand-new exhibition Far Out: Movement through Form and Color featuring abstract artworks by six artists interpreting themes of energy, transition and movement. The work will be on view through January 2019 in the passageway that accesses the rail platforms between Union Station East and West.

Artists featured in the exhibition include Lee Clarke, Hadley Holliday, Haeley Kyong, Nikko Mueller, Eamon Ore-Giron and Soonae Tark. Bursting with light and color, the artworks reflect and embody the energy of perpetual motion and change at Union Station fueled by fleet-footed commuters and visitors.

EVENT: Salsa Night | La Picante

Turn up the heat as one of Southern California’s most exciting and progressive salsa bands, LA Picante takes over one of Union Station’s most majestic spaces!

Join us for a Latin dance party as Metro Art presents a vivacious night of salsa featuring live music by the dynamic band LA Picante, playing a unique blend of classics by such greats as Ruben Blades, Willie Colon and Los Van Van. The group is composed of musicians who have played in some of the top bands in Los Angeles.

Kati Hernández will kick things off at 8:00 PM with a “salsa suelta” lesson (salsa without a partner), followed by the social dance and live music by La Picante.

Metro Art Presents showcases an exciting array of arts and cultural programs at historic Union Station. All events are free and open to the public. More information:

Join us for an afternoon of movement and music as we explore the beautiful, entrancing practice of capoeira. Audience participation is welcome! The event is led by local instructors Muito Tempo and Saracuru and will feature an introductory class taught by special guest, visiting Professora Sarara.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that incorporates dance, song, music and oral history. Its roots are traced back to various countries in Africa, and was developed by African slaves in Brazil. Join us for an afternoon of movement and music as we explore this Afro-Brazilian practice.

    We're pleased to present "City of Gold" (2015, 96 min, Dir. Laura Gabbert) as the second installment of our food film series, "Fil...mmm at Union Station."

    The film is as much a portrait of Los Angeles’s wide ranging culinary culture as it is of the renowned LA Times food critic, Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Gold.

    We'll have food trucks on site starting at 5:30pm: Comet BBQ, Boba Ni Taco and LA Donut!
