Song Review: "Still Pretending" by AboutFace

Mistah Wilson reviews "Still Pretending" by AboutFace and calls this song a Classic 👀 👀 👀

Rap Trapped in Radio Silence by Jhantu Randall

I first fell in love with Taleb Kweli’s music when I heard the song Hater Playa on the Black Star album with him and Mos Def. There was something about his delivery that I just gravitated to. When I first heard the song 4 woman on his train of thought album under the group name Reflection Eternal (collaboration with him and producer Hi-Tek) where he sampled Nina Simone’s song of the same name. I’ve been a fan of his, but even though all his work is good, his album Eardrum from 2007 has always been the standout for me. That was until he released his album Radio Silence earlier this year. Admittedly, I was a bit surprised by this release. While Kweli has never been out of the conversation for me, I was apprehensive to say he had another project that felt complete to me. Upon my first listen, my expectations were surpassed by the sound of this project. With a feature from Anderson Paak he launched this off perfectly. Kweli’s sharp and enigmatic flow seems to be able to adapt to every uni...

23 more Prince albums now available to stream following Sony deal

By Chris Cooke Following the recent deal between the Prince estate and Sony Music, which followed the disastrous deal between the Prince estate and Universal Music, 23 Prince albums have just gone online. Some are available via legitimate digital channels for the first time. The Prince estate, of course, originally did three deals with Universal Music covering the late musician's recordings, songs and merchandise. But the recordings deal fell apart because of confusion over what albums and singles the arrangement actually covered, Prince having entered into a new deal with his original label Warner Music two years before his death. With Universal's recordings deal abandoned, the estate announced a new partnership with Sony Music in June this year . This is the first project under that deal, with 23 catalogue titles going live on the digital platforms alongside a new 'Prince Anthology: 1995-2010' collection. The newly available to stream records are as follows: The Gold ...

“SONGS IN THE KEY OF MARVIN” INSTRUMENTALS (EP) by Maja7th • STREAM + DOWNLOAD

Whenever Hip-Hop sonically meets Soul legend Marvin Gaye its always the inception of a classic. Indianapolis, IN producer, Maja7th was inspired earlier this year to put together a 9-track 'instrumental' EP "Songs In The Key Of Marvin" as a tribute to the genius. With fresh arrangements, Maja7th built this EP with a selection of atomised samples and acapellas procured by DJ TopSpeed from various songs off his catalogue, re-purposed each of them using live instrumentation, birthing new vitality into the motown standards. Cut from a similar cloth to Madlib and 9th Wonder, the Indiana musician defines musicality highlighting his extensive repertoire using an array of instruments throughout all 9 blends including piano, retro synths alongside his MPC, with some input from Jerome Sloss [Saxophone] and Andrez Allen [Bass] on the collaboration "When You Want Me." #maja7th #marvingaye #songsinthekeyofmarvin Songs In The Key Of Marvin by Maja7th
